An Easy, Modern Refresh for any Pantry

Organization

January 6, 2022

In need of an easy home improvement project to start off the new year? My favorite place to start is looking for spaces that might be in need some of organization. It’s really a dual-purpose project — you’re making things easier to find/store and it forces you to go through everything and really evaluate what’s worth keeping (not to mention organized spaces are much more visually appealing!).

No matter your pantry size – even if it’s just a few cupboards – I guarantee you can benefit from a bit of a refresh! Personally, and like many in New York/big cities, our apartment is lacking in cabinet space, so after moving in I quickly realized we’d need something more. Fortunately I managed to find a large storage cabinet that very closely matched the kitchen cabinets (if you’re in the market for something similar, I suggest checking out Amazon or Wayfair)!

I had done a pretty thorough organization of our pantry last year so it wasn’t in horrible shape to begin with, but at the end of the year I decided it was time for some reorg! I was previously using the stackable OXO plastic containers (which were great), but I noticed that many were too big for what I needed and it was taking up excess space. These glass canisters with wood lids from Amazon were the perfect replacement – and they have many different styles!

Here are a few simple tips when tackling pantry organization:

  1. Take everything out and purge any expired products / discard or donate anything you don’t need anymore
  2. Use organizational storage (bins, baskets, canisters, stacking shelves) to keep similar items together so you always know where to find them
  3. Keep frequently-used items near the front and any extras or lesser-used items in the back

I knew I wanted more modern-looking containers but still needed them to be stackable. I also added these simple labels that keep everything clean and easy to read!

Here’s what I used:

Products

Glass canister with black wooden lids – set of 6 (I purchased 2 sets)
Small glass canister with cork lids
Large glass canister with mango wood lid (also here)
Tall glass canister with black wooden lids – set of 2
